DR. RAJIV GOEL
Our mission at Sound Hand & Orthopedics is to provide exceptional orthopedic hand care rooted in our core values of dedication, integrity, and compassion.
Dedication: Staying up to date on available treatments and being open to change is a core value. Although many treatments have withstood the test of time, for many conditions it has changed substantially. We used to treat all Dupuytren’s disease with open surgery and now with needle aponeurotomies, open surgery has become the exception rather than the rule. It’s just one example of ways practice changes in the pursuit of more effective, safer, and more easily tolerated treatments over time.
Integrity: We believe in the power of trust and transparency. Integrity is at the heart of our practice, guiding our decisions and ensuring that each patient receives honest, ethical, and respectful care. If surgery isn’t the best option for you or has limited probability of helping, we will tell you. You have a right to honest informed opinions with your best interest at heart.
Compassion: Compassion is the foundation of our patient relationships. The best treatment for a heavy demand framer may not be the same as the best treatment for someone whose passion is knitting. If we can’t see the world through your eyes (or feel it through your hands), we are less likely to find the optimal solution for your problem. Caring about what you care about is how we can maximize the probability that we will find the optimal solution for you.
Do I need to see a Specialist?
Although many patients are referred to us by other providers, some people choose to come see us on their own. The most common reason people want to see a specialist is persistent symptoms that don’t seem to be getting better with time. If you’re worried about it, it doesn’t hurt to get it checked out. You’re not “wasting our time.” We’re here to help.
Another reason is for second opinions. If you’ve been recommended treatment and don’t feel like you have a firm grasp as to why it was recommended and what it is meant to accomplish, we’re happy to be a second set of eyes that can look things over for you. Sometimes, we find that although the treatment recommended may be right for most, it might not be right for you. We will take the time necessary to understand your particular needs and believe you deserve an honest opinion about your options and how they relate to your particular goals.
